CHOIRS

STEYNING:

Sing Out Sister is a women’s choir in Steyning, West Sussex. It has been running since 2010 when Christabel was approached by a local lady who asked her to set up a vocal group in the town.

The group started with 5 members in Christabel mum’s house and has grown from 5 to 45 members. The choir sing many genres of music, spanning the decades from as early as the 1940s to present day. Soul, jazz, pop, musical theatre, country, rock, gospel, you name it, they sing it!

Christabel does all of the arrangements, which are in 2/3/4 harmony parts. Learning is done by ear so sight reading is not necessary. The songs which the choir are currently learning are available to hear on CD and on Dropbox, an online app.

The choir regularly performs around West Sussex at residential homes, group meetings, events and they even performed at Christabel’s wedding – both in the church and as part of a flash mob at the evening reception.

The choir is for women of all ages and all abilities.  There is no audition process to join the choir as all are welcome.

Where: Steyning Methodist Church
When: Monday evening from 7.15pm

HENFIELD:

Sing Out Henfield is a choir that was already up and running when Christabel took it over in early 2019. It was started primarily for dementia sufferers, and although there are now many choir members who do not suffer with dementia, the choir still caters for those who do. This is a mixed choir, for men and women, and the style is the same as Sing Out Sister!

Where: Henfield Evangelical Church Hall
When: Wednesday afternoon from 2.15pm
